Community

Alberta CoLab was disbanded in March 2020. This page exists as a historical record.

A community of practice (CoP) is a group of diverse people who come together to learn, share practices, and co-create knowledge around shared areas of interest.

Informal communities of practice pop up in organizations around the water cooler, but when purposefully stewarded, they can become powerful, positive forces that help people navigate complex challenges together.

Broadly, the CoPs are designed to help create a platform for continued learning and development, and to foster consistency in the use of these methods across government departments.

CoLab founded three communities of practice relating to systemic design and foresight.

Everyone is welcome, and they are a great way to connect and learn with others who are exploring similar tools in their work.

All the CoPs are open to staff from across the Government of Alberta. The CoPs are targeted to people with some experience in the methodologies who are looking to advance their practice.
